calling my cell phone - after I answer tones are heard similar to dialing a new number. Scam?

i've been getting voicemails from this number that is just background noise for over a month now. just called the number back twice and a man's voice says "about 4 seconds" and then the line disconnects.

I keep getting these phone calls from this number also. They never leave a message just keep calling and calling. I wish they would STOP.

these people called me on friday dec 23,2010 saying i had a lwsuit against me for check fraud which is ridiculous. they had all my information and said that they would fire me from my job and that it would be filled on monday.

been getting this number for many many weeks. i never pick up. it's really annoying!

Some douchebag named Josh on the other end refused to identify who he worked and what he wanted. Kept spouting off personal information trying to get me to verify it. Called 3 times in a row, had to take the phone off the hook.

Called pretending that we had spoken a few months ago and that, had I taken his advice and bought some stock or such with the name Hong Kong something, I would now be filthy rich. He tried to sound really busy and say he understood if I didn't remember because he had called so long ago. I told him I knew he was lying to me, and he got very agitated and said he was tearing up my file.

I emailed mygenevewatch and complained to them about 1. selling/giving my info to a third party. 2. about the calls. They refunded all money I had been charged...I didn't cancel in time and was charge the full amount....but the calls continued for about 3 days then someone was actually on the line when I answered and I asked this person to take my number off the call list and have not been bothered since. Of course I mentioned in my email that I had filed a complaint with the FCC.(which I did)

Repeatedly receiving calls from this number. 8 calls Answered once and got no response.

These spammers are an epidemic on society and I do everything to stop them. Last night we had no less than 3 different spammers try to send us a fax in the wee hours of the morning. I simply unplug the phone line from the fax machine and we only use it to send out faxes to dinosaurs that don't know how to use email yet. I just plug the line back in to send a fax out and unplug it after it's done. The fax machine will be thrown out and NEVER replaced once it dies. It's now 8 years old and if it lasts much longer I will shoot it and put it our of our misery. I also received a call from this number on my throw-away cell phone which was purchased from 711. It has a great function on it to block numbers. Once you enter the number into this cheap phone, it will never ring again or leave a message if that number calls.
